We'll make it very simple: The only information we get from our visitors is the information they're willing to share. This includes:
When visiting anonymously:
We track visitation metrics through Google Analytics. If you're not familiar with the software, it follows a user using a cookie through the site, and gives information such as where they are accessing from, what sort of OS they're using, what browser they're using, etc. For more information on what information Google Analytics collects, you can find it here: http://www.google.com/analytics/
We collect a username, an email address and your password, which we store securely (not text and not reversible). The email address is for notification purposes ONLY (e.g. if you write a comment, and someone replies to your comment, you'll be notified). You may opt out of these notifications at any time. At the point that we decide to start "keeping our users in the loop" about upcoming releases or updates, we'll, from time to time, email our users with these updates, and these emails will also come with a link to allow for quick "unsubscribe" from those particular updates. In other words, it's our policy not to annoy you.
Clicking on product links:
We have an affiliate program with formatted product links (ones that include pictures and the like). We don't know the specifics of how external entities track your usage from that affiliate link, but we do know that if a purchase is made in some arbitrary period of time after clicking through to that link, a record is kept of it, so as to compensate us for the clickthrough. We don't know who buys what, when or how, just that it was bought via a link from our site, and we certainly don't keep that information on our servers.
That's about it. If you have further concerns, please contact us at email@example.com
. If we've left anything important out, we'll make sure to keep this document up to date so you always have the latest information on our policy changes.
